What is Nifty 200?

The NIFTY 200 Index reflects the stock performance and behaviour of companies with a large and mid-sized market capitalization. As per the definition given by SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India), with top 100 companies by market capitalization are classified as large-cap companies, and those companies falling between the first 101-250th companies by market capitalization are called mid-cap companies. The NIFTY 200 stock list comprise stocks of all companies in the NIFTY 100 and components of the NIFTY Midcap 100 Index. The NIFTY 200 Index is calculated using the free-float market capitalization method. The NIFTY 200 list is used for purposes like benchmarking fund portfolios, launching of index funds, ETFs and structured products. NIFTY 200 index is revised on a semi-annual basis and in combination with NIFTY 100 and NIFTY Mid Cap 100.
