Standardisation of UPI IDs for Fund Transfers
In light of the increasing misuse of popular brand names by fraudulent entities creating unauthorised UPI IDs, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has mandated the adoption of standardised, validated, and exclusive UPI IDs for all SEBI-registered intermediaries. This initiative is designed to enhance investor protection and ensure that payments are routed securely to the verified accounts of registered market participants.
As a SEBI-registered intermediary, we are fully compliant with this directive. Customers are advised to exercise due caution and make sure that you make payments to validated UPI ID only.
Applicability
Clients can add funds to their trading account from their bank account via UPI by submitting a request only through the website or mobile application.
This feature is available to clients currently using the Deposit Fund Model account type which have fund-adding functionality. Other account holders, whose bank accounts are already linked to their trading and demat accounts, can make payments directly from those linked bank accounts.

Security Features of the Validated UPI ID
-
Every validated UPI ID will display the category suffix (e.g. "brk" for brokers) along with the exclusive "@valid" handle linked to the issuing bank.
-
In order to provide an additional layer of security and help investors verify the authenticity of an entity before proceeding with any financial transaction, SEBI is in the process of developing a functionality named "SEBI Check".
-
Upon implementation, investors will see a white thumbs-up icon inside a green triangle on the payment confirmation screen, which serves as a mark of authenticity.
-
Customers are strongly advised to verify the presence of this security icon before authorising any payment.
