Demat Transfer process when the other broker is CDSL and the demat account is being closed (CDSL)

If your other broker demat account is with CDSL and you wish to transfer all holdings to your ICICI Bank demat account while closing the account, you may choose either the online or offline transfer process.

Online share transfer process (CDSL Easiest)

Follow the steps below to transfer shares online when both your existing demat account and ICICI Bank Demat account are held with CDSL.

Step 1: Register for CDSL Easiest

Register for the CDSL Easiest facility using the demat account from which you wish to transfer shares.

    1. Register for the CDSL Easiest facility through the provided registration link: Easiest | Central Depository Services (India) Limited

    2. Enter the DP ID and Client ID of your existing demat account. These details can be found on your broker’s or DP’s platform.

    a. First 8 digits = DP ID

    b. Next 8 digits = Client ID

    3. Accept the Terms & Conditions and proceed.

    4. Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number and email address.

    5. Complete the registration by entering your account details, creating a username, selecting Trusted Account (PIN) as the Account Type, choosing a security question and answer, and proceeding further.

    6. Registration is completed at this stage. Your broker/DP may take up to one working day to authenticate the request. The password will be sent to your registered email address.

    7. Log in using your username and the password received via email. Enter the OTP and validate.

    8. Create a new password and submit. Log in again using the new password and OTP.

    9. Navigate to Miscellaneous → Reset PIN, answer the security question, and submit. The PIN will be sent to your registered email address.

    10. Go to Miscellaneous → Edit Trusted Account → Add Trusted Account.

    11. Enter the BO ID (16-digit demat account number) of your ICICI Bank demat account.

    12. To find your ICICI Bank demat account number:

    a. Log in to ICICI Direct.

    b. Click on your Client ID (top right corner). Your 16-digit demat account number will be displayed under your name.

    c. Alternatively, you can obtain your demat account number by logging in through the ICICI Bank website.

    13. Enter the demat account number in the BO ID field and submit.

    14. The status will show Pending for Authentication until the linking process is completed.

Step 2: Link the BO ID

    1. Go to Transaction → BO Linking Setup.

    2. Enter the Buyer BO details and your PAN, then submit.

    3. You will receive an email from CDSL containing an authentication link. Click the link to proceed.

    4. Enter your PAN and demat account number, then submit.

    5. Verify the seller and buyer details, generate the OTP, and accept.

    6. Log in again and navigate to Transaction → BO Linking → BO Linking Inquiry and Delink.

The status should now be displayed as Verified.

Once this is completed, you can initiate the share transfer.

Step 3: Steps to Transfer Shares
