    ICICI Direct NRI Account

    What is the process for converting NRI account to a Resident Account?

    Process:

    1. Customer Visits the Bank Branch

    > Customer approaches the Bank branch for conversion of Bank, Demat & Trading accounts.

    > Customer to fill the 3-in-1 NRI to RI Conversion Form.

    > Inform the customer that if there are any open positions, they must be cleared before initiating the conversion process.

    2. RM will guide for required Documentation and KYC proofs as below:

           > Duly filled and signed 3-in-1 NRI to RI Conversion Form

           > ID proof

           > Address Proof

           > Customer’s Photograph

           > Signed Bank Mandate Page

     

    3. RM will review the form and raise SR

           > Verify that all mandatory documents are attached and self-attested by customer.

           > Ensure all KYC documents are in order

           > Ensure the first 8 digits of the Aadhaar number are masked on all submitted documents.

           > Raise the 3-in-1 NRI to RI Conversion request through the existing SR path in ICRM (Liabilities > Account Servicing > Conversion From NRE/NRO to SB > With ICICI Direct > Retail Branch > Customer TAT – 9 working Days > Overall TAT – 11 Working Days)

     

    4. Documents to be uploaded while raising the SR

         > Scan copy of the KRA Page

         > 3-in-1 NRI to RI Conversion Form

         > KYC Proofs (Grey Scale)

     

    Points to Remember

    > All KYC documents must be scanned in Grey Scale.

    > The First 8 Digits of the Aadhaar number must be masked.

    > Any open positions in the NRI trading account must be cleared before processing.

    > Please mention all accounts held by NRI customers for conversion / closure in respective fields

    > Please tick only one bank account and demat account that needs to be converted. Only one bank and one demat need to be ticked.

    > If the customer holds an NRO Non-PINS, it can be converted to Resident Trading Account. Otherwise, new Resident Trading Account will be opened.

    > Existing investments, including stocks, mutual funds and SIPs are transferred/updated to the Resident Demat Account as per the applicable process during the conversion process.
