    Shares As Margin

How do I pledge shares as margin for trading in futures on ICICI Direct?

To pledge shares for margin and use them in futures trading on ICICI Direct, follow these steps:

    1. Log in to your ICICI Direct trading account.

    2. Go to the Shares as Margin option under the Funds section.

    3. Click on Pledge & Create Limit.

    4. Select the stocks you wish to pledge from your demat holdings and enter the quantity.

    5. Review the pledge details and submit the request.

    6. You will receive an OTP link via your registered mobile/email to authorise the pledge through the depository.

    7. Once verified, your shares will be pledged, and the margin limit will be reflected in Limits section under 'Funds'.

    8. You can then allocate this margin to the F&O segment and use it to take positions in futures contracts & writing options.

     Important Notes:

    1. Only approved securities can be pledged as collateral.

    2. The usable margin is calculated after applying haircuts to the pledged shares.

    3. Pledged margins can’t be used for IPOs.
