Birla Tyres Ltd. manufactures tyres for automobiles, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, farm vehicles, and heavy earth-moving machinery. It was incorporated in 1991, with its headquarters in Kolkata, West Bengal. During FY2021-2022, the company’s total revenue was Rs 22.44 crore, down 85.34% from the previous financial year, 2020-2021. On 29 August 2022, Birla Tyres Ltd.’s market capitalisation stood at Rs 73 crore.

Birla Tyres Ltd. was first established as part of Kesoram Industries Ltd. It was engaged in producing and developing tyres with Pirelli, a world-class tyre manufacturer. The product range is suitable for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, small/light commercial vehicles, truck and bus bias, truck and bus radial, farm, mining, industrial, and off-the-road vehicles. For the quarter that ended in June 2022, the company recorded a loss of Rs 29.90 crore after tax. The company has posted a loss for the fourth consecutive quarter.  

On 30 June 2022, the company’s shareholding pattern reflected a domestic institutional investor stake of 3.53%, a foreign institutional investor stake of 0.06%, a promoter stake of 38.47%, and a public stake of 57.95%. The leading promoter is Pilani Investment and Industries Corporation Ltd. with a 19.17% share, followed by Manav Investment and Trading Co. Ltd., with a 9.82% share. In the June 2022 quarter, promoters unpledged 18.09% of shares, bringing the total pledge of promoter holdings to 13.82%. Promoters also decreased holdings from 48.68% to 38.47% in the same quarter.
