LOCAL STOCKS FINISHED MARGINALLY LOWER

The key domestic indices closed slightly lower. Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Media and Nifty Bank shares rose, while Nifty IT and Nifty FMCG shares fell.

As per provisional closing data, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, lost 187.90 points or 0.24% to 77,966.35. The Nifty 50 index inched down 35.75 points or 0.15% to 24,435.95. In the past three trading sessions, the Nifty and Sensex eased by 0.55% and 0.68%, respectively.

The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index posted modest losses of 0.02% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index edged lower by 0.27%.

The market breadth was unfavorable. On the BSE, 2146 shares gained and 2984 shares retreated. A total of 192 shares were unchanged.

Tata Steel Ltd was the top traded stock in NIFTY50 index today, recording a quantity of 364.84 lakh shares and posted a sharp rise of 71.04% compared to last one-week’s average daily volume. The stock has inched higher by around 0.61% in last one-month and has jumped 18.75% over last one year.

HDFC Bank Ltd was the second highest traded stock in NIFTY50 index today, recording a quantity of 269.93 lakh shares and registered a sharp decline of 22.35% compared to last one-week’s average daily volume. The stock has fallen sharply by around 10.87% in last one-month and has dropped sharply 26.94% over last one year.
