GIFT NIFTY WAS SLIGHTLY HIGHER, ASIAN MARKETS INCHED DOWN

Local stock markets are poised for a steady start today. The Gift Nifty April 2026 futures are trading 0.04 points higher, suggesting a mildly positive start for the benchmark index today. The domestic equity market closed on a positive note in last session, with BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 marginally higher.The BSE Sensex has eased 4.63% over the last one month, while the NSE Nifty has drifted lower 4.50% over the same period.


In Asia today, sentiment was cautious. China’s SSE Composite Index slipped 2.06% while Japan’s Nikkei 225 edged lower 2.76%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index posted modest losses of 1.26%.


Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 438 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net buyers to the tune of Rs 1,025 crore in the Indian equity market on 10 September 2026, provisional data showed.


Overnight on Wall Street, stocks drifted lower across the board. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended lower by 316.56 points, or 0.60%, and closed at 52085.10. The S&P 500 eased 0.58% to end at 7613.30, and the NASDAQ Composite drifted lower 0.65% to 26104.74.


Yesterday, the S&P BSE Sensex added 138.36 points or 0.19% to 74902.59. The Nifty 50 index ended slightly higher 46.30 points or 0.20% to 23477.80. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd was top gainer in Nifty 50 yesterday, posting modest gains of 2.36% to Rs 526.15. The stock has moved higher around 1.43% in last one-week and trades lower 10.47% over last one-month.


In sectoral indices, only Nifty Financial Services index inched higher yesterday, rising 0.57% on the day.
