As per media sources, UP revenue collection has been Rs 18562 crore from April 1 to September 30 this year against Rs 16025 crore in the corresponding period last year. The UP officials have also said that six distilleries have been set up this year and seven more will be ready by the end of this financial year.

While demand for beer went up by 40% due to intense heat, the UP excise department is banking on the sale of rum and whisky in coming months. As per officials, technology interventions aimed at increasing transparency and streamlining the business will improve the revenue further in the longer run.
