News: In a press release, Uno Minda Limited has announced the establishment of a new greenfield aluminium die casting facility in Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra, with a planned investment of ~₹210 crore (in a phased manner over 5-year period). This facility is strategically designed to meet the surging demand for casting components in e-2Ws and e-4Ws, as electric vehicles require more aluminium-based structural and thermal parts than traditional vehicles. The new plant will also support Uno Minda’s backward integration strategy by supplying critical casting parts to its upcoming four-wheeler EV powertrain facility, leveraging its location for logistical proximity to major OEMs in the region.
View: The project will be executed in phases over the next five years, with Phase 1 expected to commence commercial operations by Q2FY27. For FY25, the aluminium die casting segment reported ₹574 crores with overall casting business recording revenues of ₹3,220 crores (~19% of sales). This investment underscores Uno Minda’s commitment to strengthening its position in the rapidly evolving electric mobility sector and supporting the localisation of advanced manufacturing in India. By expanding its aluminium die casting capabilities, the company is not only addressing the immediate needs of OEMs but also positioning itself for long-term growth as the automotive industry transitions to electric vehicles. With consistent outperformance from the domestic auto space by virtue of its strength in execution, scale as well as technology tie-up’s & expected trend continuity, we remain positive on Uno Minda
