News: As per latest key business figures for Q4FY22 disclosed by HDFC Bank, its loan book was up 21% YoY and 8.6% QoQ to Rs 13.69 lakh crore as on March, 31. Deposits grew 17 % on a YoY basis to Rs 15.59 lakh crore as on March 31. As per the bank's internal business classification, retail loans grew by around 15 % over March 31, 2021 and around 5% QoQ. Further, commercial and rural banking loans grew by around 30.5 % YoY. Also, corporate and other wholesale loans grew by around 17.5 % YoY.
View: We believe credit growth has been very strong and highest in past many quarters on a sequential basis. This should reflect positively as last quarter the bank had underperformed on the growth front to its comparable peers but now credit growth coming back, we believe this would be beneficial for the bank.
