News: US Henry prices have dropped to US$2.1-2.4 per mmbtu levels while Asian JKM prices remains at US$10-11 per mmbtu. Gail has a 6 MMT long term US contract based on Henry hub prices, while it trades them with countries (Atlantic vs. Pacific trade) that have gas prices linked with Brent crude and, thus, earns an arbitrage.
Views: At current prices the arbitrage has a potential to earn US$3-4 per mmbtu. Since Asian spot prices are expected to remain rangebound, the trade has potential to improve Gail's expected trading profitability.
