News: The ministry of ports, shipping and waterways decided to develop and build the first indigenous hydrogen fuelled electric vessels at Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL). The Vessel is expected to cost around Rs 17.50 crore of which 75% would be funded by govt. The ground work has already begun, wherein CSL has partnered with KPIT Technologies and Indian developers in the areas of Hydrogen Fuel cell.
Views: This will hugely benefit Cochin Shipyard as it will aim to lead the country towards green shipping. With government focusing on Hydrogen as alternate fuel this will auger well for Cochin shipyard whose current Order Book stands at around 10500 crores with order enquiry also amounting to around 10000 crores.
