AS PER MEDIA SOURCES, NTPC IS LOOKING TO BUILD 30 GW OF NUCLEAR ENERGY IN 2 DECADES.
NTPC - 332 Change: 1.75 (0.53 %)News: As per media sources, NTPC is looking to build 30 GW of nuclear energy in 2 decades. This will be set up at a cost of $62 Billion (₹ 5.4 trillion). NTPC is seeking land for it's ambitious plan. NTPC was planning for 10 GW capacity initially however upon government's announcement to open up the sector to foreign and private investment, it tripled it's goal to 30 GW.
View: NTPC has taken various steps to foray into Nuclear power, it has an agreement with NPCIL to grow nuclear power generation capacity in its portfolio. It is undertaking site studies to establish nuclear power generation plants in India. It also has strategic agreement with Clean Core Thorium a US based nuclear power fuel provider. Further, last week it was in talks with foreign firms about constructing small nuclear reactors.
