Consumer durable makers are set to raise prices by from October 1

ICICIdirect Research 28 Sep 2026 DISCLAIMER

News: As per media reports, consumer durable makers are set to raise prices by from October 1, with ACs seeing 5-8% hikes and TVs, washing machines and refrigerators 3-4%, amid higher copper, steel, aluminium, freight and currency costs. Copper prices have risen 50%+ YoY to ~₹1400/kg, with an AC requiring around 3-4 kg of copper. Blue Star, LG, Haier and Daikin have announced/implemented hikes, while Haier expects a cumulative 15% increase by January. Despite higher prices, initial festive demand remains strong among large appliances, with refrigerator, AC and washing-machine volumes up 12-15% YoY and value sales up 18-23%.

View: Price hikes should support higher ASPs and value growth, while also suggesting companies are steadily able to pass on input cost increase while strong festive demand could benefit LG Electronics, Crompton consumer, Whirlpool India, Havells India, Blue star, Voltas, IFB industries, Amber Enterprises, PG Electroplast, Epack Durable and Dixon Technologies. The festive period from Onam through Diwali typically contributes 30-40% of annual appliance sales, while premiumisation could provide additional support. However, higher prices may pressure volumes, particularly in the mass segment.

Impact: Positive
