News: Coal India has informed the exchanges that its coal supplies to the power sector increased 5.9% YoY to 51.44 MT in June'26, driven by higher electricity demand during the peak summer season. Total coal supplies grew 7.5% YoY to 65.8 MT, while supplies to the non-regulated sector rose 14.8% YoY to 14.5 MT. The company also reduced pithead coal inventory by 28.3 MT during Q1FY27 and reiterated its FY27 production and supply targets of 815 MT and 850 MT, respectively.

View: The development is positive for Coal India as higher dispatches across both power and non-regulated sectors indicate healthy demand and support volume growth. Inventory liquidation and improved first-mile connectivity are expected to enhance operational efficiency and working capital. We remain positive on Coal India, supported by sustained domestic coal demand and ongoing diversification into renewable energy and coal gasification
