Axis Bank raised $800 million through a dual-tranche offshore bond issuance

ICICIdirect Research 24 Jun 2026 DISCLAIMER

News: As per exchange filings, Axis Bank raised $800 million (≈₹6,900 crore) through a dual-tranche offshore bond issuance, comprising $500 million (≈₹4,300 crore) of Additional Tier-1 (AT1) perpetual bonds and $300 million (≈₹2,600 crore) of senior five-year bonds. The five-year senior bond was priced at 110 bps over the five-year US Treasury yield, implying a yield of around 5.37%, while the AT1 bond was priced at 6.87% versus initial guidance of 7.12%. The fund raise comes amid increased offshore borrowing activity by Indian banks following the RBI’s concessional swap facility, which has improved the attractiveness of foreign currency funding.

View: The successful offshore bond issuance diversifies Axis Bank’s funding mix and strengthens its long-term liability profile at a competitive cost. The strong investor response and tighter-than-guided pricing should support funding efficiency, while access to overseas capital markets could provide incremental flexibility in liability management and modest support to margins going forward.
