News:  According to media sources, Airbus has awarded Mahindra Aerostructures a multi-year contract to manufacture 11 fuselage-skin panels for the A320neo and A321XLR aircraft at its Bengaluru facility, with the components covering Sections 18 and 19 of the rear fuselage and tail and being supplied to Airbus’ Augsburg facility in Germany. The programme, with deliveries targeted from 2028, will require Mahindra to add advanced chemical milling, surface treatment and stretch-forming capabilities, marking a move towards manufacturing more complex and larger aircraft structures in India.

View: This is strongly positive for Mahindra Aerostructures and India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem, although the financial impact on the listed Mahindra entities may take time to become visible because the contract value has not been disclosed and deliveries start only in 2028. The latest disclosed order book for Mahindra Aerostructures is about $1 billion in FY26 with also includes Airbus H125/H130 helicopter fuselage programmes. With medium to long term investment horizon, M&M is our top bet in the auto OEM space.

Impact: Positive
