Nifty Dec futures trade at premium

The Nifty December 2021 futures were at 17,223, a premium of 46.30 points compared with the Nifty`s closing of 17,176.70 in the cash market.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange`s futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 63.15 lakh crore compared with Rs 52.75 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index added 264.45 points or 1.56% to settle at 17,176.70.

The NSE`s India VIX, a gauge of market`s expectation of volatility over the near term, slumped 8.05% to 18.46.

ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Tata Steel were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE.

The December 2021 F&O contracts expire on 30 December 2021.
