Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (IGL) is a natural gas distribution company that supplies natural gas as cooking and vehicular fuel to consumers in the domestic, commercial, and transport sectors. It was incorporated in 1998, with its headquarters in New Delhi. During the June 2022 quarter, IGL posted a total income of Rs 3,224.59 crore, up 30.01% from the previous March 2022 quarter. On 30 August 2022, the company’s market capitalisation stood at Rs 29,337 crore.

In 1999, Indraprastha Gas Ltd. took over Delhi City Gas Distribution Project from GAIL (India) Ltd. The company aims to provide natural gas to the entire capital region with the support of its promoters—Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. and GAIL (India) Ltd. The commercial and domestic sectors use natural gas as Piped Natural Gas (PNG), the transport sector uses it as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and the industrial establishments use it as R-LNG.
On 30 June 2022, the company’s shareholding pattern indicated a 12.88% public stake, a 20.34% foreign institutional investor stake, a 21.79% domestic institutional investor stake, and a 45% promoter stake. The promoters, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. and GAIL (India) Ltd., have a 22.5% share each. In the June 2022 quarter, mutual fund holdings decreased from 8.28% to 7.77%, while FII holdings increased from 19.88% to 20.34%.
