NIFTY MOVES DOWN, NIFTY PSU BANK COMES INTO FOCUS

The key equity barometers traded with minor losses in morning trades. Nifty moved in a range of 23896-23787. Nifty Auto, Nifty Realty and Nifty IT shares declined, while Nifty PSU Bank shares advanced.


At 10:45 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, lost 556.39 points or 0.72% to 76,387.89. The Nifty 50 index inched down 191.30 points or 0.80% to 23,864.50.


The broader market outpaced the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index retreated 1.01% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index moved lower by 0.65%.


The market breadth was fragile. On the BSE, 1796 shares rose and 2779 shares declined. A total of 240 shares were unchanged.


Nifty Auto index fell 2.54%. The index has drifted lower by 2.32% in last one month and advanced 11.03% over last one year. Hero Motocorp, retreating 5.50%, led the losers followed by Sona BLW Precis., easing 4.09% and Eicher Motors, down 3.88%, respectively. All 15 index constituents are reporting losses today.


Nifty Realty index shed 1.57%. The index has edged lower 2.38% in last one month and moved higher by 1.31% over last one year. Godrej Propert., slipping 3.18%, led the losers followed by Brigade Enterpr., losing 2.42% and DLF, edging lower 2.41%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting loss today.


Nifty PSU Bank index posted modest gains of 0.35% to 8536. The index has edged up 0.22% in last one month and jumped 24.52% over last one year. Bank of Maha, edging up 1.71%, led the gainers followed by Punjab Natl.Bank, gaining 1.70% and I O B, adding 1.02%, respectively. Out of 12 index constituents, 9 are reporting gains today.


Out of 14 sectoral indices on NSE, 13 are in red today. Nifty PSU Bank index is modestly higher by 0.22% in last one month and has posted strong gains of 24.52% over last year. Nifty Auto index has registered heavy losses of 2.32% in last one month and has soared 11.03% over last one year.


From NIFTY50 index, Vodafone Idea, IFCI AND Coal India are leading in terms of volumes today, clocking turnover of 1959.85 lakh shares, 10205.27 lakh shares and 9607.54 lakh shares respectively.


Asian markets recorded sharp declines on Wednesday. China’s Shanghai composite is lower by 0.90%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading lower by 0.84%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is firmly lower by 2.82%.


NIFTY50 Sep-26 futures are in discount of 120.50 points today.
