Jio Platforms IPO: DRHP highlights, Issue Details and Key Numbers

Jio Platforms is the company behind Reliance Jio's mobile network, home broadband and a growing line-up of AI-powered products. The company has filed Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with SEBI on June 19, 2026. This gives details about how the Jio IPO is structured, who currently owns the company, and where the raised money will be used.

Introduction to Jio Platforms

Jio Platforms is a platform built on proprietary digital technology and pan-India connectivity, designed to widen access to digital services across the country. The actual network runs through its subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), which served 524.4 million customers as of March 31, 2026.

For everyday consumers, that means mobile and home broadband, entertainment and cloud services, smart-home products, and AI assistants. For businesses, it means enterprise connectivity, cloud and productivity tools, IoT, private 5G, security services, and AI-driven enterprise products.

What is the Jio Platforms IPO?

This is Jio Platforms' first public issue of shares - there's been no formal market for them before now. The entire offer is a fresh issue of up to 27,00,00,000 equity shares of face value ₹10 each; there's no offer for sale by existing shareholders, so every rupee raised goes to the company itself rather than to anyone cashing out. Because the price band hasn't been set, the total size of the issue in rupee terms isn't known yet either - that detail arrives with the RHP.

Why is Jio Platforms coming out with an IPO?

The DRHP ties the IPO directly to its Objects of the Issue: the money raised is earmarked for paying down part of RJIL's outstanding borrowings, along with general corporate purposes. Beyond the capital itself, the company also points to the broader benefit of listing - creating an open, tradeable market for its shares for the first time. It's worth noting the cap table already includes some of the world's largest tech companies and investment funds, who bought in well before any listing was on the table.

Who holds shares in Jio Platforms?

Reliance Industries Limited holds roughly two-thirds of the company as promoter. The rest of the ownership, per the DRHP's pre-issue shareholding table, looks like this:

A few things stand out in that trend line: revenue and profit have both grown steadily each year, margins have held up, and debt relative to earnings has come down sharply - net leverage nearly halved between FY2025 and FY2026 alone.

Conclusion

Jio Platforms' DRHP describes a large, profitable digital services business built around RJIL's half-a-billion-strong customer base, with steady growth in revenue, earnings and margins over the past three years. The IPO itself is a fresh issue of up to 27,00,00,000 equity shares, with proceeds set aside for debt repayment at RJIL and general corporate purposes. Price band, exact issue dates, and the final issue size will only be confirmed once the Red Herring Prospectus is filed with SEBI.
