News: According to media reports, TCS has acquired two land parcels to support OpenAI's planned AI infrastructure in India. The company has been allotted 200 acres in Anakapalli (Vizag) by the Andhra Pradesh government, near the upcoming Google–Adani hyperscale data centre, while it has also purchased an 88-acre parcel in Pune from Hemisphere Properties for ₹641 crore. The facilities are expected to house OpenAI's first India-based data centres under the Stargate India initiative. TCS is reportedly in advanced discussions with hyperscalers and expects to finalize one or two agreements during Q2. The company had earlier announced the HyperVault data centre JV with TPG (51:49) involving an investment of up to ₹18,000 crore, with reported anchor commitments of 100 MW from OpenAI and 200 MW from AMD.

View: The development strengthens TCS' strategy of building a full-stack AI infrastructure business spanning compute, cloud, data readiness and AI models, moving beyond traditional IT services. While the initiative requires significant capital investment and execution over multiple years, it positions TCS to benefit from the rapidly expanding sovereign AI and enterprise AI infrastructure opportunity in India. If successfully executed, it could create a differentiated long-term growth avenue while deepening TCS' partnership with OpenAI and strengthening its positioning in the emerging AI infrastructure ecosystem.

Impact: Positive
