News: HAL signed an agreement with Safran Aircraft Engines (SAE) of France for the production of rotating parts for LEAP engines. As part of this deal, HAL will develop critical near-net Ring Forging technology and begin manufacturing Inconel parts at its Ring Rolling facility in Bengaluru. This marks a key milestone in HAL’s collaboration with SAE, strengthening their industrial cooperation and reinforcing India’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities. The agreement builds upon previous MoUs and contracts signed in 2023 and early 2024 to co-develop and produce superalloy forged components for the LEAP program.
View: The HAL-Safran agreement strengthens HAL’s role in the global aerospace supply chain by enabling local production of critical LEAP engine components. It boosts HAL’s forging capabilities and supports advanced manufacturing in India. The deal marks a major step in advancing its technological capabilities, particularly in high-precision forging of superalloy components like Inconel used in next-generation jet engines. This not only upgrades HAL’s manufacturing portfolio but also positions it as a key partner for future global aerospace collaborations.
