LOCAL STOCKS SEE MARGINAL LOSSES

The key equity barometers traded with limited losses in early trade. Nifty opened at 24224 and hit a high of 24254 in first half hour of trade. Nifty Auto, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Healthcare Index shares advanced, while Nifty Realty and Nifty IT shares declined. At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, edged lower by 218.84 points or 0.28% to 77,509.32. The Nifty 50 index lost 43.30 points or 0.18% to 24,244.35. The broader market outpaced the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index posted modest losses of 0.27% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.10%. The market breadth was favorable. On the BSE, 1989 shares rose and 1812 shares retreated. A total of 230 shares were unchanged. Nifty Auto index posted modest gains of 0.48% to 29317. The index has gained 7.67% in last one month and posted strong gains of 16.12% over last one year. Tube Investments, adding 4.21%, led the gainers followed by Sona BLW Precis., edging up 1.86% and Samvardh. Mothe., gaining 1.10%, respectively. Out of 15 index constituents, 12 are reporting gains today. Nifty Pharma index edged higher by 0.45% to 26459. The index has risen slightly by 2.72% in last one month and jumped 18.97% over last one year. Sai Life, up 2.92%, led the gainers followed by Ajanta Pharma, inching higher 1.77% and Alkem Lab, adding 1.56%, respectively. Out of 20 index constituents, 13 are reporting gains today. Nifty Realty index declined 1.44%. The index has posted modest losses of 1.09% in last one month and inched up 1.14% over last one year. Oberoi Realty, edging lower 2.28%, led the losers followed by DLF, losing 1.83% and Lodha Developers, slipping 1.81%, respectively. Out of 10 index constituents, 9 are reporting loss today. In NIFTY500, Aegis Logistics is the top gainer today, spiking 5.38% to Rs 1355.65. The counter has jumped 85.48% in last one year. It recorded an average volume quantity of 62318.83 in last five sessions compared to 101871.09 over last one month. Asian markets tumbled on Tuesday. China’s Shanghai composite is slightly lower by 0.39%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading lower by 0.79%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 is substantially lower by 1.78%.
