News: Non-life insurance premiums grew 16.7% YoY to ₹27,196 crore in June 2026. On a cumulative basis (upto June FY26), industry premiums stood at ₹87,825 crore, up 11.1% YoY, with general insurers contributing ₹75,467 crore (+8.2% YoY) and standalone health insurers (SAHIs) continuing to outperform with 32.9% YoY growth to ₹12,161 crore. In June, general insurers' premiums increased 14.3% YoY to ₹22,772 crore, while SAHIs grew a strong 30.9% YoY to ₹4,373 crore. Among large private insurers, ICICI Lombard grew 13.7% YoY to ₹2,259 crore, while HDFC ERGO reported robust 33.5% YoY growth to ₹1,162 crore. Among PSU insurers, New India Assurance grew to ₹3,670 crore (+10.3% YoY), while National Insurance grew 10.5% YoY to ₹1521 crore. In the health segment, Star Health grew 19.2% YoY to ₹1,594 crore, while Niva Bupa reported strong 34.3% YoY growth to ₹798 crore.

View: Driven by surging retail health demand and strong digital distribution, private and health insurers are outperforming steady public sector players, fueling solid momentum across the broader non-life insurance sector.
