Q2FY26 Quarterly Result Announced for Kaveri Seed Company Ltd.

Agricultural Products company Kaveri Seed Company announced Q2FY26 results

Financial Highlights:

  • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 96.61 crore as compared to Rs 81.76 crore, grown by 18.16%.
  • EBITDA was at Rs 0.16 crore compared to Rs 6.89 crore during Q2FY25.
  • Net Profit was at Rs -15.05 crore compared to Rs -3.49 crore during Q2FY25.

Operational Highlights:

  • Maize volumes increased by 29.7% so as revenues increased by 56.76%.
  • The contribution of new products to volumes of Cotton is up from 11% to 36%.
  • Cotton sales impacted by increased illegal cotton seed usage.
  • Increase in cost of production of cotton seed impacted the profitability.
  • Hybrid rice volumes increased by 0.9% and revenues increased by 21.48%.
  • Hybrid rice restriction in Punjab affected the sales in the State.
  • Selection rice volumes increased by 2.60% and revenues increased by 11.07%.
  • Vegetable seed revenues increased by 31.06%.

G V Bhaskar Rao, Chairman & Managing Director, said: “Overall half year performance was very encouraging. The double-digit growth in revenues and EBIDA are very impressive. However high cost of production of cotton seed has impacted overall growth in profits of the company. Inspite of increase in depreciation during the first half of the year as compared to last year, high usage of illegal cotton seed and loss of hybrid rice sales in Punjab, the company has delivered good growth rates.

Substantial increase in maize volumes resulted in much higher growth in terms of its revenues shows its potential in overall non cotton portfolio and also shows the strength of the company in the segment. Inspite of moderate volume growth in selection & hybrid rice the realisations were higher.”

Agricultural Products company Kaveri Seed Company announced Q1FY26 results

Q1FY26 Financial Highlights:

  • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 945.31 crore as compared to Rs 808.09 crore in Q1FY25, registering a growth of 16.98%.
  • EBITDA was at Rs 332.85 crore as compared to Rs 292.79 crore in Q1FY25; an increase of 13.68%.
  • Net Profit was at Rs 316.50 crore as compared to Rs 282.91 crore in Q1FY25, registering a growth of 11.88%.

Operational Highlights:

  • The contribution of new products to volumes of Cotton is up from 12% to 34%.
  • Cotton sales were impacted by increased illegal cotton seeds.
  • Hybrid rice volumes increased by 6.48% and revenues increased by 32%.
  • Hybrid rice cultivation was restricted in Punjab, which had impacted the overall sales of hybrid rice.
  • Selection rice volumes increased by 1.30% and revenues increased by 11.58 %.
  • Maize volumes increased by 21% and revenues increased by 54%.
  • Vegetable seed sales volumes increased by 28%, whereas revenue increased by 41%.
  • Volumes of Non-Cotton Hybrids increased by 8% and revenues increased by 31%
  • Volumes of Cotton Hybrid decreased by 15% and there is a corresponding decrease in revenue.

G V Bhaskar Rao, Chairman & Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to declare a good set of numbers on account of increasing acreages and high realisations of non-cotton segments like rice and maize.

Increased volumes of non-cotton hybrids have resulted in good realisations, which have been well reflected in the overall revenue growth.

The increase in contribution of new products to volumes of cotton will have a major impact on the quarters to come in our overall cotton revenue growth.

Rice, maize and vegetable segments continue to grow both in terms of acreages, revenues, and realisations.

In spite of restrictions on hybrid rice sowing in Punjab, we had delivered a good set of growth in hybrid rice revenues. We have witnessed a trend of substantial increase in revenue growth as compared to volume growth across all non-cotton segments like rice, maize and vegetables, which would continue in the years to come.”

Q4FY25 Financial Highlights:

  • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 76.95 crore as compared to Rs 80.54 crore in Q4FY24,
  • EBITDA was at Rs (15.31) crore as compared to Rs (10.72) crore in Q4FY24,
  • Net Profit was at Rs (29.25) crore as compared to Rs 2.79 crore in Q4FY24,

FY25 Financial Highlights:

  • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 1,121.57 crore as compared to Rs 1062.43 crore in FY24, grown by 5.57%
  • EBITDA was at Rs 270.43 crore as compared to Rs 336.63 crore in FY24, grown by 1.43%
  • Net Profit was at Rs 265.21 crore as compared to Rs 293 crore in FY24.

Commenting on the results, G V Bhaskar Rao, Chairman & Managing Director said, “We had a phenomenal year on account of growth across all our non-cotton segments like hybrid rice, selection rice, maize and vegetables.

Volume growth across segments like bajra, hybrid rice, selection rice, maize and vegetables has resulted in proportionately higher realisations, which is very encouraging and gives an upward trend in the upcoming years”

  • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 154.77 crore, registered a growth of 30.63%, from Rs 118.47 crore in Q3FY24
  • EBITDA was at Rs 25.09 crore, registered a growth of 12.77%, as compared to Rs 22.25 crore in Q3FY24
  • Net Profit was at Rs 15.04 crore as compared to Rs 15.04 crore in Q3FY24, grown by 29.05%

Q2FY25 Financial Highlights:

  • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 81.76 crore.
  • EBITDA was at Rs 6.89 crore.
  • Net Profit was at Rs -3.49 crore

H1FY25 Financial Highlights:

  • Revenue from Operations has registered a growth of 3.06%, to Rs 889.84 crore, as compared to Rs 863.41 crore in H1FY24.
  • EBITDA was at Rs 299.68 crore, remained flat as compared to Rs 298.87 crore in H1FY24.
  • Net Profit was at Rs 279.41 crore, remained flat as compared to Rs 278.55 crore in H1FY24

Operational Highlights:

  • The contribution of new products to volumes of Bajra was up from 59% to 73%.
  • Hybrid rice volumes increased by 18% and revenues increased by 28%
  • Selection rice volumes increased by 20% and revenues increased by 34 %.
  • Maize volumes increased by 9% and revenues increased by 24%.
  • Vegetable seed sales volumes increased by 11%, whereas revenue decreased by 13%.
  • Export sales stands at Rs 6.01cr in H1FY25, as compared to Rs. 25.93 crore in H1FY24, this decline is due to political unrest in Bangladesh.

G V Bhaskar Rao, Chairman & Managing Director, said: “Our non-cotton segment grown by 24% in the first half of the year on account of major contributors like selection and hybrid rice and maize have done well in the first quarter.

Our exports during the first half were impacted by unrest in Bangladesh. This has resulted in muted growth rates at revenue level and further below EBIDTA and PAT.

Increase in volumes in both selection, hybrid rice and maize had resulted in good growth rates on account of good realisations”

Q4FY24 Financial Highlights:

  • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 80.54 crore as compared to Rs 60.64 crore in Q4FY23, grown by 32.82%
  • EBITDA was at Rs 15.50 crore as compared to Rs (6.73) crore in Q4FY23, registered a growth of 3.32 times
  • Net Profit was at Rs 2.79 crore as compared to Rs (13.89) crore in Q4FY23, grown by 1.20 times

FY24 Financial Highlights:

  • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 1,062.43 crore as compared to Rs 1,000.56 crore in FY23, grown by 6.18%
  • EBITDA was at Rs 336.63 crore as compared to Rs 296.94 crore in FY23, grown by 13.37%
  • Net Profit was at Rs 293 crore as compared to Rs 267.04 crore in FY23, registered growth of 9.72%

Commenting on the results, G V Bhaskar Rao, Chairman & Managing Director said, “In our endeavor to reward our shareholders, we had done a buyback of 44.83 lakhs shares at Rs 725 per share amounting to Rs 325 crore.

Vegetables segment continues to perform well on both volume and revenues front on account of increasing share of new variants launched during the year. The volume increase in vegetable crops has resulted in good realisation. Whereas across other segments like cotton, Hybrid rice and selection rice realisations were higher due to demand for these seed segments and price increase. Our efforts in the last three years in capturing the market share in above outlined segments is really paying off now.

We have recently incorporated subsidiary in Bangladesh to boost our exports. Exports are showing good traction and expected to be sizable business.”

Agricultural Products firm Kaveri Seed Company announced Q1FY24 results:

  • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 767.30 crore vs Rs 731.95 crore in Q1FY23; registered a growth of 4.84%
  • EBITDA was at Rs 279.09 crore as compared to Rs 248.05 crore in Q1FY23; increased by 12.51%
  • EBITDA Margin improved to 36.37% from 33.89% in Q1FY23, growing by 248 basis points
  • Net Profit was at Rs 267.84 crore as compared to Rs 240.67 crore in Q1FY23; registered a growth of 11.29%
  • Net Profit margin improved to 34.91% from 32.88% in Q1FY23, registering a growth of 203 basis points

Commenting on the results, G V Bhaskar Rao, Chairman & Managing Director said,

"We continue to deliver good growth in overall profitability of the company. The profit for the quarter is almost equal to the profits delivered during the full year FY23. This has resulted in a growth of 11.29% in EPS to Rs 47.91 per share.

The delay in the monsoon has impacted volumes and sales of maize during the quarter. We are expecting that there would be an increase in the sowing of Maize during the Rabi season. Sunflower and Mustard exports will start in the second quarter. Besides, expecting vegetable seeds exports to increase to Bangladesh in Bitter Gourd, Okra, Watermelon, and Hot pepper."

    • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 60.64 crore as compared to Rs 54.56 crore in Q4FY22, up 11.14%
    • EBITDA was at Rs (6.73) crore
    • Net Profit was at Rs (13.89) crore
  • FY23:
    • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 1,000.56 crore as compared to Rs 915.00 crore in FY22, registered a growth of 9.35%
    • EBITDA was at Rs 296.94 crore as compared to Rs 238.41 crore in FY22, grown by 24.55%
    • Net Profit was at Rs 267.04 crore as compared to Rs 208.90 crore in FY22, grown by 27.83%

Commenting on the results, G V Bhaskar Rao, Chairman & Managing Director said, “We are delighted to declare good numbers for the year on account of realising good growth in both volumes and revenues.

Both cotton and non-cotton segments have equally done well during the year and we expect the same trend to continue in the next couple of years.

Maize, Rice, Wheat, and vegetable segments continue to do well and Bajra’s growth is very encouraging due to the increased focus of the Government of India by way of promoting millets as a part of the Millet Mission.

New hybrids launched in cotton and maize have contributed for increase the volumes and realisations, which has in turn resulted in higher EBIDTA margins during the year and the same trend would continue in the next two to three years. With an increasing number of new variants, we are confident of increasing our market share in Cotton.

The good growth rates in Maize both in terms of volumes and revenues were seen during the current year and the trend should continue in the coming years on account of increasing demand for both animal feed and biofuel blending demand in the country”.

Kaveri Seed Company announced Q3FY23 results:

  • Standalone Q3FY23:
    • Revenue from operations was at Rs 123.49 crore as compared to Rs 102.08 crore in Q3FY23; registered a growth of 20.97%
    • EBITDA was at Rs 43.95 crore as compared to Rs 16.32 crore in Q3FY23; increased by 160.31%
    • Net profit was at Rs 37.54 crore as compared to Rs 9.08 crore in Q3FY23; registered a growth of 313.24%

Commenting on the results, Mr. G V Bhaskar Rao, Chairman & Managing Director said, “We are delighted to declare good results for both Q3 and 9MFY23.

We have witnessed higher area coverage during the quarter in two of the large segments rice and wheat which had resulted in good revenue growth. Besides there has been good revenue growth registered in cotton, hybrid rice, maize and vegetable seed segments.

One another major achievement during the quarter and nine months' results is we were able to convert volume growth into revenue growth across the segments.

As a part of rewarding our shareholders, during the quarter the company had successfully completed the buyback of 23,99,831 shares of Rs 2 each for an aggregate amount of Rs 125.37 crore.”

  • H1FY23 - Standalone:
    • Revenue from Operations was at Rs 816.44 crore as compared to Rs 758.35 crore in H1FY22; registering a growth of 7.66%
    • EBITDA was at Rs 259.77 crore as compared to Rs 229.18 crore in H1FY22: which increased by 13.33%
    • Net Profit was at Rs 243.39 crore as compared to Rs 212.91 crore in H1FY22: a growth of 14.37%
    • Announced a buyback of up to Rs 125.6 crore at a maximum repurchase price of Rs 700 per share. This is the 5th consecutive buyback by the company in the last 5 years
