Nifty below 21,750 mark, oil & gas shares slip

The benchmark indices traded with limited losses in the morning trade. The Nifty traded below the 21,750 mark. Oil & gas shares declined after advancing in the past trading session.

At 10:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was down 217.99 points or 0.30% to 72,192.39. The Nifty 50 index lost 65.80 points or 0.30% to 21,712.90.

The broader market outperformed the headline indices. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index added 0.14% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index gained 0.25%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 1,856 shares rose and 1,587 shares fell. A total of 174 shares were unchanged.

New Listing:

Shares of Innova Captab were currently trading at Rs 502.40 at 10:23 IST on the BSE, representing a premium of 12.14% as compared with the issue price of Rs 448.

The scrip was listed at Rs 456.10, exhibiting a premium of 1.81% to the issue price.

So far, the stock has hit a high of 521 and a low of 452. On the BSE, over 8.12 lakh shares of the company were traded in the counter so far.

Buzzing Index:

The Nifty Oil & Gas index fell 0.93% to 9,499.75. The index advanced 2.01% in the past trading session.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (down 3.76%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 2.66%), Indian Oil Corporation (down 2.29%), Oil India (down 1.75%), Oil & Natural Gas Corpn (down 1.13%) Reliance Industries (down 0.82%), Castrol India (down 0.67%), Gujarat State Petronet (down 0.34%), Adani Total Gas (down 0.01%) declined.

On the other hand, GAIL (India) (up 2.39%), Mahanagar Gas (up 0.8%) and Indraprastha Gas (up 0.53%) advanced.

Stocks in Spotlight:

Federal Bank rose 0.58%. The private lender said that it has received intimation from the Reserve Bank of India that it has accorded its approval to ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company Ltd. (ICICI AMC) for acquiring aggregate holding of up to 9.95% of the paidup Share Capital or Voting Rights of the Bank.

RailTel Corporation of India rallied 3.42% after the company received the work order amounting to Rs. 120.45 crore (Including GST) from South Central Railway for comprehensive signalling and telecommunication works for provision of automatic block signalling system in Yermaras-Nalwar section of Guntakal division in South Central Railway.

Satin Creditcare Network rose 0.33%. The company has entered into master Agreement for co-lending of loans to Micro-Finance Borrowers by way of Co-Lending Module in tranches with Karnataka Bank.
