Nifty Jan futures trade at premium

The Nifty January 2021 futures were at 14,254, a premium of 15.1 points to the Nifty`s spot closing of 14,238.90.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange`s futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 34.54 lakh crore compared with Rs 31.26 lakh crore in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index tumbled 133 points or 0.93% to 14,238.90.

The NSE`s India VIX, a gauge of market`s expectation of volatility over the near term, rose 3.66% to 23.2450.

RIL, Tata Motors and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the top traded stock futures contracts in F&O segment for January expiry.

The January F&O contracts will expire on 28 January 2021.
