Zinka Logistics Solution: The Business

They are India’s largest digital platform for truck operators (in terms of users), with 963,345 truck operators in the country transacting on their platform in FY24, which comprises 27.52% of India’s truck operators. India’s growing economy needs the support of robust logistical capabilities, and small and medium size truck operators are the backbone of logistics in the country. These truck operators are served through value chains that are unorganized and fragmented, making their operations inefficient.

The company aims to digitally empower India’s truck operators, helping them manage their businesses and grow their income. Using the Zinka platform, the customers (primarily comprising truck operators) digitally manage payments for tolling and fueling, monitor drivers and fleets using telematics, find loads on their marketplace, and get access to financing for the purchase of used vehicles.

Zinka Logistics Solutions Business Details

Truck operators use the BlackBuck mobile application for their diverse business needs. They follow an omnichannel customer onboarding and servicing strategy made specifically for their customer base's demographics. They also have a digital-led marketing strategy that provides customers with awareness of their solutions and brand.

Zinka Logistics Solution: Industry Overview

Logistics includes warehousing, transportation costs, and administrative expenses. Transportation accounts for the bulk of the expenses and accounts for nearly 66% of logistical expenses as of FY24, with road transport being the preferred mode for various industries.

India has witnessed a transformation from rail to road transportation since the 1950’s. Roads paved the way for increasing consumption in India as they became a primary mode of transfer of retail goods. Other modes were unable to scale as per the increasing requirements, which led to increasing dependence on roads in India. As a result, the share of freight transportation via roads increased to close to 70% in FY19.

India boasts the second-largest road network globally, totaling approximately 6.671 million km as of November 2023. The pace of national highway construction has accelerated, with an increase from 12.1 km/day in FY15 to 34 km/day in FY24. Budgetary allocations for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and National Highways Authority of India saw a 2.7% increase between FY23 and FY24, further increasing to Rs 2.78 trillion for MoRTH, including Rs 1.68 trillion for NHAI between FY24 and FY25.
