INDICES TRADES WITH SMALL LOSSES; OIL & GAS SHARES SLIDE

The headline equity indices traded with minor losses in the early afternoon trade. Oil & gas shares declined after advancing for previous trading session.

The Nifty traded below the 26,0.50 mark. Oil & gas shares advanced after declining in the past trading session.

At 12:30 ST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, fell 65.99 points or 0.07% to 85,212.71. The Nifty 50 index lost 25.45 points or 0.10% to 26,021.50.

In the broader market, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index shed 0.11% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index added 0.27%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 726 shares rose and 1,107 shares fell. A total of 225 shares were unchanged.

Derivatives:

The NSE`s India VIX, a gauge of the market`s expectation of volatility over the near term, shed 0.02% to 10.11. The Nifty 30 December 2025 futures were trading at 26,107, at a premium of 82.55 points as compared with the spot at 26,024.45.

The Nifty option chain for the 30 December 2025 expiry showed a maximum call OI of 71.7 lakh contracts at the 27,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 74.6 lakh contracts was seen at 26,000 strike price.

Buzzing Index:

The Nifty Oil & Gas index shed 0.25% to 11,897. The index added 1.11% in the previous consecutive trading session.

Oil & Natural Gas Corpn (down 2.07%), Gujarat State Petronet (down 0.54%), GAIL (India) (down 0.5%), Oil India (down 0.42%), Castrol India (down 0.38%), Reliance Industries (down 0.22%), Gujarat Gas (down 0.21%), Mahanagar Gas (down 0.16%), Aegis Logistics (down 0.07%) and Petronet LNG (down 0.02%) slipped.

On the other hand, Indian Oil Corporation (up 1.85%) ,Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (up 0.99%) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (up 0.32%) added.

Stocks in Spotlight:

SEPC zoomed 11.73% after it has secured a domestic contract worth Rs 3,300 crore from South Eastern Coalfields (SECL) through the JARPL-AT Consortium, comprising Jai Ambey Roadlines (80%) & Avinash Transport (20%).

Ashoka Buildcon rose 1.99% after it has received an EPC order from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to construct a flyover connecting J.J. Bridge & Sitaram Selam Bridge at J.J. Road�Saboo Siddik Polytechnic Road Junction in �E� Ward.

Oriental Rail Infrastructure rose 0.95% . The company announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Oriental Foundry, has secured an order worth Rs 1.10 crore from North Western Railway.
