In 1961, it was converted into a Public Limited Company under the name and style `Sardesai Brothers Limited` and was again changed to `Gujchem Distillers India Limited` in 1974. Subsequent to the takeover by the new Management, the Company has changed its name from Gujchem Distillers India Limited to ZR2 Bioenergy Limited with due approval from Registrar of Companies on March 27, 2025. The Company is engaged in the manufacture and sale of Industrial Alcohol, Acetaldehyde, Acetic Acid, and Auxiliaries and Chemicals in India. It also offers Monochloro Acetic Acid and Carboxy Methyl Cellulose. In 2023, the Company has incorporated wholly-owned subsidiary company called Sera Code Private Limited on July 28, 2022 to carry on the business of Information Technology. During the financial year 2024-25, Company incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary Company i.e. ZR2 Solar Private Limited on 4th October, 2024. In 2024-25, M/s. ZR2 Group Holdings Limited made an open offer to the public shareholders under the SEBI (SAST) Regulations, 2011, acquiring the equity shares of old promoters and acquired control of the Company with effect from 26 July, 2024.
