SJVN Ltd., or Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, is a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh. It is engaged in hydroelectric power generation and transmission. It was incorporated on 24 May 1988, with its headquarters in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The company’s profit after tax for the June 2022 quarter was Rs 609.23 crore, with a net profit margin of 56.82%. On 29 August 2022, SJVN Ltd.’s market capitalisation stood at Rs 11,828 crore. 

The shares of the company are listed with code 533206 on the Bombay Stock Exchange and on the National Stock Exchange with the listing code SJVN. 

The company is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power, Government of India. It began operations with India’s largest 1500 MW NathpaJhakri Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh. As of 2022, the company has established seven projects with 2016.5 MW of installed capacity in total and an 86 km 400 KV transmission line. SJVN Ltd.’s total income for the quarter ended June 2022 was Rs 1,072.23 crore. The QoQ revenue growth was 172.24%, the highest in the past three years.  

On 30 June 2022, the company’s shareholding pattern indicated a promoter stake of 86.77%, a foreign institutional investor stake of 2.93%, a domestic institutional investor stake of 3.42%, and a public stake of 6.89%. The promoter stake is divided between the President of India and the Governor of Himachal Pradesh with 59.92% and 26.85% shares, respectively. During the June 2022 quarter, mutual funds increased holdings from 3.21% to 3.26%, while FII increased holdings from 2.65% to 2.93%.  

SJVN Ltd.’s board of directors includes Mr N L Sharma, Mr Surinder Pal Bansal, Mr Sushil Kumar Sharma, Mr Akhileshwar Singh, MrRaghuraj Rajendran, Mr Ram Dass Dhiman, and Mrs Geeta Kapur. The auditors of the company are APRA & Associates LLP. The company disclosed a total of 392.98 crore shares outstanding on 30 June 2022.  

On 29 August 2022, SJVN Ltd.’s share price on BSE was Rs 29.55 and its share price on NSE was Rs 29.50. The 52-week high share price of SJVN Ltd. was Rs 33.75, and the 52-week low share price of SJVN Ltd. was Rs 25.45. The company gave a one-year return of 13.44% to its investors.
