The promoters of the company own 56.25% of the stake in the company, Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) own 0.35%, Domestic Institutional Investors (DII) own 14.07% of the stake, and others (such as public & retail investors) hold the balance of 29.33%.

In June 2021, quarterly net revenue was Rs. 283.81 crores, which has decreased by approximately 20.52 % from Rs. 357.07 crores for the April-June 2020 quarter. The quarterly net loss in June 2021 was Rs. 688.13 crores, which has also increased by nearly 8.13% from a net loss of Rs. 636.41 crores in June 2020. In June 2021, the reported operating profit was at Rs. 177.71 crores, which is also reduced by 37.25% as compared to an operating profit of Rs. 283.22 crores for the quarter ending in June 2020. From (Rs. 10.10) in June 2020, the EPS of MTNL has fallen further to (Rs. 10.92) per share in June 2021. MTNL's stock closed at Rs. 17.85 on 18th August’2021 (NSE) and has returned 44.53% in the last six months and 90.91% in the previous year.
