Financial Highlights:

  • Total Income at Rs 3.7 billion, up 17% as compared to Q1FY24
  • Total EBITDA at Rs 1.5 billion, up 31% as compared to Q1FY24
  • Hospitality Segment Performance:
    • Revenue at Rs 3.3 billion, up by 15% from Q1FY24
    • ARR at Rs 10,446, up by 1% over Q1FY24
    • Occupancy was at 70%
    • RevPAR improved by 2% YoY to Rs 7,361
    • EBITDA was at Rs 1.3 billion, up by 18% from Q1FY24

Other Highlights:

  • CHL announced its commitment on World Environment Day to achieving Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions by 2040, aligning with the Paris Agreement's goal to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
  • Hotel inventory expansion at Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield (~125-130 rooms) and The Dukes Retreat Lonavala (65 rooms) running as per schedule for completion in Q3FY25
  • ‘Taj’, New Delhi Airport (385-390 rooms) and ‘Hyatt Regency’, Airoli, Navi Mumbai (~280 rooms) are scheduled for completion in FY26 & FY27 respectively
  • CIGNUS POWAI Tower II - Completion by FY27

Description
  • Chalet Hotels Ltd. is the owner, asset manager, operator and developer of high-end hotels. It is a hotel-led mixed-use developer in India’s prime metro cities, such as Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, and Mumbai Metropolitan Region. It was incorporated in 1986, with its headquarters in Mumbai. In the June 2022 quarter, the company generated a total income of Rs 259.90 crore, up 69.30% from the previous quarter that ended in March 2022. On 17 October 2022, the company’s market capitalisation stood at Rs 7,887 crore.

    Chalet Hotels Ltd. is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange with the 542399, and on the National Stock Exchange with the code CHALET.

    There are seven fully operational hotels in the mainstream and luxury segments and four commercial spaces in the company’s portfolio. It is the first hospitality company worldwide to join all three Climate Group initiatives—EP100, EV100, and RE100. The company’s profit for the June 2022 quarter was Rs 28.55 crore after three consecutive quarters of losses.

    On 30 June 2022, the company’s shareholding pattern highlighted a 71.65% promoter stake, 2.16% foreign institutional investor stake, 21.34% domestic institutional investor stake, and 4.86% public stake. Capstan Trading LLP and Casa Maria Properties LLP are the leading promoters, with an 8.05% stake each. During the June 2022 quarter, promoters’ pledges remained unchanged at 32.01% of holdings, while mutual fund holdings increased from 19.69% to 19.98%.

    Mr Hetal Gandhi is the chairperson of the company, and Mr Sanjay Sethi is the managing director and CEO. The other members include Mr Neel C Raheja, Mr Arthur William De Haast, Mr Milind Wadekar, Mr Ravi C Raheja, Mr Joseph Conrad D’Souza, Mr Rajneesh Malhotra, Ms Radhika Piramal, and Mrs Christabelle Baptista. B S R & Co. LLP are the auditors of the company. As of 30 June 2022, the company had a total of 20.50 crore shares outstanding.

    On 17 October 2022, the company’s share price closed at Rs 392.30 on BSE and at Rs 384.70 on NSE. The 52-week high share price was Rs 401.50, and the 52-week low share price was Rs 211.05. Chalet Hotels Ltd.’s six-month return to investors was 27.18%, and its one-year return was 54.36%.
