NSE Introduces FnO Contracts on Nifty Next 50 Index

The National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) on Thursday, April 18, has announced a significant development in the Indian financial markets landscape: the introduction of Futures and Options contracts on the Nifty Next 50 Index. 

Introduction and Contract Specifications

In its circular issued on April 18, 2024 NSE stated, "Approval received from SEBI, Futures and Options contracts on Nifty Next 50 Index shall be made available for trading in Future & Options segment with effect from April 24, 2024."

Trading Opportunities and Strategies

According to NSE, the exchange will provide three consecutive monthly contracts for both index futures and index options. The contracts will expire on the last Friday of each month, with the previous trading day being considered as the expiry day if the last Friday falls on a trading holiday.

While the Nifty 50 index comprises the top 50 Indian companies, the Nifty Next 50 index is composed of 50 companies from the Nifty 100 index, excluding those already included in the Nifty 50.
