Quick Wrap: Nifty Energy Index records a surge of 5.17%, NIFTY climbs 1.80%

Nifty Energy index ended up 5.17% at 37024.75 today. The index has added 11.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd jumped 7.88%, Reliance Industries Ltd gained 7.02% and Coal India Ltd rose 6.01%. The Nifty Energy index has increased 53.00% over last one year compared to the 23.48% spike in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty PSE index increased 3.88% and Nifty Infrastructure index increased 3.67% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 witnessed a rise of 1.80% to close at 21737.6 while the SENSEX witnessed a rise of 1.76% to close at 71941.57 today.
