As per Section 142 of the Social Security Code 2020, all employees and unorganised workers must link their Aadhaar cards with their Employee Provident Fund (EPF) accounts. This can be done by seeding a 22-digit UAN with the employee’s Aadhaar number.
As an employee, you can link Aadhaar with your PF account in any of the following ways:
- Through the UAN Member e-SEWA page on the EPFO portal
- By downloading the UMANG app on your smartphone
- By visiting your regional EPF office
To continue receiving the benefits of the EPF scheme, you must link your Aadhaar card immediately (if you haven’t done that yet). Below is the step-by-step guide for EPF Aadhaar link through the ways mentioned above:
UAN Member e-SEWA page on the EPFO portal
Below are the steps you need to follow for the PF-Aadhaar card link through the EPFO portal:
- Go to the official website of the EPFO
- Place your cursor on the “Services” tab in the top-right corner of your screen and click on the “For Employees” option in the drop-down menu
- Click on the “Member UAN/Online Services” option in the “Services” section
- The UAN member e-SEWA page will open before you. Log in to your account by entering your UAN number, password, and captcha code. If you don’t have your UAN, you can click on the “Know Your UAN” option in the “Important Links” section on the same page
- After logging into your account, click on the “KYC” option in the “Manage” section
- You will be led to a page where you can link your Aadhaar number with your EPF account
- Now, click on the “Aadhaar” option and enter your Aadhaar number and name before clicking on the “Save” button
- Validate your Aadhaar number by entering the One Time Password (OTP) received on your mobile number. After OTP validation, your Aadhaar number will be linked to your EPF account number
UMANG app
You can also download the “UMANG” app on your smartphone and complete the steps mentioned below to link Aadhaar with your PF account:
- Go to the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and download the “UMANG” app on your smartphone
- Enter the registered mobile number with your EPF account
- Enter the OTP received on your mobile number. You can also use an MPIN to log into your account
- Once you are logged in to your account on the UMANG app, go to the “All Services” tab and tap on the “EPFO” option
- Select the Aadhaar seeding option under the “e-KYC services” section
- Enter your UAN number and tap on the “Get OTP” button
- Enter the OTP received on your mobile number
- A new page will open in your app where you can update your Aadhaar information. You can enter your Aadhaar card number here and click on the “Submit” button
- Validate your Aadhaar number by entering the OTP received on your mobile number. After OTP validation, your Aadhaar number will be linked to your EPF account number.
Regional EPFO office
You can also link your Aadhaar with PF offline by visiting your regional EPFO office and completing the following steps:
- Go to the enquiry or help desk and ask for an Aadhaar seeding application form
- Fill out the form by entering the required details, including your UAN number, PAN number, Aadhaar number, and others
- Attach the self-attested copies of the required documents
- Submit the duly-filled application form to the relevant executive at the EPFO office
- Your Aadhaar number will be linked to your PF account after successful verification
