US DOLLAR INDEX APPROACHES TWO WEEK HIGH

The US dollar index jumped sharply in last session as a rally into New Year extended amid rising US treasury yields. The dollar index, which measures the US currency against six major trading partners, soared around 0.70% yesterday and approached a two week high. The index currently quotes flat at 101.80 mark. All attention has now turned to the US non-farm jobs data due to be released on this Friday. Meanwhile, the benchmark 10-year US yield hit 3.97%, rising around 10 points and marking its biggest daily increase in over three weeks.
