Speculators Increase Net Short Positions In Pound

Large currency speculators began increasing their net short positions in the Pound futures market last week, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Pound futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds, totaled a net short position of 11,209 contracts in the data reported through October 17, 2023. This was a weekly rise of 1161 net contracts. Speculators have turned bearish since similar levels attained in April this year after being most bullish in a decade during mid July.
