Pound Speculators Increase Net Short Positions

Large currency speculators continued to increase their net short positions in the Pound futures market although marginally last week, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Pound futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds, totaled a net short position of 20,371 contracts in the data reported through October 31, 2023. This was a weekly rise of 1735 net contracts. Speculators have turned bearish since similar levels attained in April this year after being most bullish in a decade during mid July.
