INR records small gains, USDINR futures dip near 82.50 mark in intraday moves

Published on Aug 28, 2023 12:15

The Indian Rupee recorded small gains today, generally staying supported as the local equities started the week on a positive note and the US dollar index fell under 104 mark. INR had soared last week after breaking under 83 per US dollar mark despite firm US dollar amid a volatile spell of movement. The INR is currently quoting at 82.60 per US dollar, up 4 paise on the day. The local currency had hit a three week high of 82.41 per dollar in last week and the current upmove seems to be driven by a slightly firm undertone in the minutes of the latest RBI monetary policy statement. The US dollar index is holding under 104 mark now as risk appetite picks up and caps advances in the index. The NSE USDINR futures are currently up 0.04% at 82.62 after approaching near 82.50 per US dollar mark earlier.
