The Indian rupee edged up on Friday, witnessing a good upswing amid soaring local equities and a muted undertone in the US dollar overseas. The INR closed at 83.31 against the U.S. dollar, up 7 paise on the day. Domestic equity indices ended with significant gains on Friday, rising for fourth consecutive session. The Nifty settled above the 20,250 mark. Barring the Nifty Auto index, all the other sectoral indices on the NSE ended in the green. The benchmark, Nifty50 index hit a fresh all-time high at 20,291.55 in intraday moves. Meanwhile, the US dollar index is quoting flat around 103.40 mark as a bounce from recent lows was kept in check due to abundant risk appetite and talks of soft monetary policy in months ahead.
