BSE revises expiry day for S&P BSE BANKEX derivatives contracts

Published on Aug 30, 2023 15:11

The S&P BSE BANKEX derivatives contracts in the equity derivatives segment will see a change in their expiry day, as announced by the BSE. Following extensive feedback from various market participants, it has been decided that the expiry day for these contracts will be revised to Monday expiry, effective from 16 October 2023. This change will apply to all futures and options contracts based on the S&P BSE BANKEX Index.

One notable provision accompanying this change is that if the expiry day happens to coincide with a trading holiday, the expiry day will be moved to the previous trading day.

Existing contracts of S&P BSE BANKEX with a Friday expiry will expire on 13 October 2023, at the end of the day. Starting from 16 October 2023, these contracts will no longer be available for trading.

In place of the expiring contracts, new contracts of S&P BSE BANKEX with a Monday expiry will be created on 13 October 2023, at the end of the day. These new contracts will then be open for trading from 16 October 2023, onwards.
