Quick Wrap: Nifty IT Index rises 1.96%, NIFTY jumps 1.16%

Nifty IT index closed up 1.96% at 36070.45 today. The index is up 5.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Tech Mahindra Ltd gained 3.95%, Mphasis Ltd jumped 2.67% and Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd added 2.09%. The Nifty IT index is up 39.00% over last one year compared to the 17.50% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Energy index added 1.70% and Nifty Auto index increased 1.19% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 witnessed a rise of 1.16% to close at 17315.5 while the SENSEX added 1.22% to close at 57989.3 today.
